About this opportunity
The US Coast Guard's C5I Training Detachment in Portsmouth, Virginia has issued a Special Notice for an extended warranty on two training simulators that were upgraded in November 2023. These simulators provide machinery plant simulation for the Machinery Plant Control and Monitoring System (MPCMS) and navigation simulation for the Coast Guard Electronic Chart Display and Information System (CGECDIS) and Dynamic Positioning System (DPS). The opportunity is set aside exclusively for small businesses and falls under NAICS code 541519 for Other Computer Related Services. The posting date is August 27, 2025, with responses due by September 1, 2025. This procurement represents the Coast Guard's need to maintain critical training capabilities beyond the standard manufacturer warranty period.
The primary objective is to secure comprehensive simulator warranty coverage that extends beyond the original one-year manufacturer warranty to minimize training lab downtime and ensure quality training delivery to Coast Guard personnel. The required warranty must include unlimited remote support, simulation software bug fixes, hardware component warranties, documentation corrections, emergency repair visits, and a spare parts package containing both Commercial Off-The-Shelf equipment and trainer-specific components. Only small businesses are eligible to participate in this opportunity, which emphasizes the government's commitment to supporting small business participation in federal contracting. The short timeline between posting and due date indicates this may be an urgent requirement to prevent any gaps in warranty coverage for these complex training systems that are essential to Coast Guard operational readiness.
