About this opportunity
The Department of Health and Human Services' National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has awarded a contract (ID 75N94025D00002) to FISHER BIOSERVICES INC for a biospecimen repository management contract valued at $100 million. The contract involves comprehensive management of approximately 6,000,000 human biospecimens, including storage, monitoring, inventory tracking, quality assurance, and distribution services for specimens ranging from current research collections to samples over 50 years old. The awarded Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract will support the NICHD's research activities by providing specialized repository services for biospecimens collected across multiple NICHD Divisions and Branches, with task orders to be issued as needed for receipt, storage, and shipment of biological samples.
Notice text
This project is a contract to store, monitor, and distribute and occasionally destroy human biospecimens collected by NICHD, as described below. The NICHD conducts studies focusing on child health and human development and as such has generated and will continue to generate a collection of human biospecimens pertaining to these research activities. The NICHD requires a specimen storage service that will provide a functional inventory system coupled with receipt, storage, and disbursement of these biological specimens. Currently, the NICHD has approximately 6,000,000 samples from multiple NICHD Divisions and Branches. None of these have on-site facilities for the acceptance, storage, and disbursal of biospecimens.
This collection of biospecimens ranges from those actively collected in on-going studies to biospecimens that are more than 50 years old. Thus, there are many services required to maintain such a diverse collection. Required repository services include an inventory system to manage all biospecimens (including those associated with the DASH BioBank), receipt of biospecimens from a variety of sources, storage of biospecimens at required temperatures, quality assurance to monitor proper storage, and shipment of biospecimens upon request. These services will be contracted on a Task Order basis. Awarded contract 75N94025D00002 to FISHER BIOSERVICES INC for 100000000 on 2025-01-21.
