About this opportunity
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a brand-name justification notice on July 27, 2026, announcing its intent to award a single purchase order for Thomson Linear jackscrews valued in excess of $350,000 for the Alaska Satellite Telecommunication Infrastructure (ASTI) system's 11-meter satellite antennas. The FAA intends to procure eight units of Thomson Linear 50-BSJ-U jackscrews in two configurations (part numbers 4751-01-00 and 4750-01-00) to enable precise azimuth and elevation antenna positioning. Thomson Linear is identified as the original equipment manufacturer and sole capable source because it can fabricate jackscrews to the required specifications without requiring an existing operable unit as a fabrication template. Interested parties who dispute this brand-name determination must submit evidence of their firm's capability and experience to provide equivalent supplies and services by e-mail to Contract Specialist Leslie Bolton by 3:00 P.M. CST on August 3, 2026. The notice is issued under FAA Acquisition Management System Section 3.2.2.4 and carries no set-aside restriction.
