About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is procuring one temperature control system (chiller/heater) for the Space Systems and Engineering Laboratory at the United States Naval Academy. The system will provide heating and cooling capabilities for a thermal plate within a thermal-vacuum chamber used to characterize, test, and qualify small satellites and miniature electric propulsion thrusters, as well as perform basic plasma physics experiments. The technical requirements specify precise temperature control ranging from -50°C to 150°C with a temperature change rate of 2°C per minute and accuracy between 0.05-0.15°C, along with 480V three-phase power and water-cooling capabilities. This is a firm-fixed-price acquisition with quotes due by 9:00 AM on July 29, 2025, and responses should be emailed to the contracting officer. Payment will be processed through the Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) system.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is unrestricted to all qualified vendors. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the solicitation materials. While specific contract values or budget ranges are not disclosed, the procurement involves a single unit of specialized laboratory equipment. The system must be delivered before September 30, 2025, though the government has indicated some flexibility with an absolute need-by date of February 27, 2026, and vendors are instructed to include their lead times in their quotes. Performance will take place at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, specifically within the Aerospace Engineering Department, and the system must function as a standalone unit with silicone-based working fluid.
