About this opportunity

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to negotiate a sole-source contract with TECAN U.S., Inc. for specific robotic workstation parts. This is not a request for competitive quotations, but rather a notice of the FBI's intention to procure under FAR 6.302-1 authority, citing that only one responsible source can satisfy the agency's requirements. The procurement falls under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance and PSC 6640 for Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. The FBI's Laboratory Division, Biometrics Analysis Section, and Federal DNA Database Unit utilize TECAN Robotic Workstations throughout their DNA analytical processes. The contract will be structured as a one-time, firm-fixed-price agreement with TECAN U.S., Inc., located in Morrisville, North Carolina.

The purpose of this procurement is to acquire necessary parts to upgrade the FBI's TECAN Robotic Workstations, which are considered critical equipment for DNA analysis operations. The specific required items include four TECAN part numbers: a microplate carrier, trough carrier, system liquid container, and cart for liquid containers. Interested parties who believe they can provide these specialized parts must contact Kayla Haley via email at knhaley@fbi.gov by July 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time, providing clear evidence that competition would benefit the government. Responses must include the firm's Unique Entity ID number and business size, with only emailed responses being considered. All vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible for government contracts, and the FBI emphasizes the importance of maintaining current and accurate registration information.
