About this opportunity
The United States Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Product Manager Engineer Systems, is conducting market research to identify vendors capable of providing Tactical Gap Crossing Systems (TGCS), an expeditionary bridging capability designed to enable Fleet Marine Force operations by allowing light- and medium-weight combat and tactical vehicles to overcome natural and man-made obstacles while maintaining tactical momentum. This Request for Information (RFI), issued under Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 10, seeks modular, scalable, and transportable systems capable of rapid deployment via sealift, fixed-wing air transport, and ground assets without reliance on heavy support equipment. Key technical requirements include a minimum Military Load Classification of 40 (with an objective of 60), a minimum usable roadway width of 3.6 meters, a minimum span capability of 12 meters (objective 15 meters), and the ability to be deployed and retrieved within 15 minutes (objective five minutes). The system must achieve 75 percent Sustainment Material Availability and 75 percent Operational Availability (with 90 percent objectives) and operate with a maximum Mean Time To Repair of six hours. Responses must be submitted by May 8, 2026 at 1300 Eastern Time to stefanie.conway@usmc.mil with a seven-megabyte email size limit, and vendors should include rough order of magnitude pricing with annual escalation percentages, production lead time and rates, specification sheets, relevant certifications, prior government test reports, and experience supporting Department of Defense units.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation and no incumbent contractor has been identified in the market research phase. The Marine Corps anticipates a requirement for approximately 69 TGCS units to support Fleet Marine Force operations over a 20-year lifecycle, with systems expected to support 6,500 bridge crossings at the Military Load Classification 40 threshold and maintain a Mean Time Between Operational Mission Failures of 60 cycles annually over 1,200 total crossings. The system must be operable by an Engineer Squad of 13 Marines with an objective of employment by a four-Marine Fire Team, representing a critical capability gap for tactical maneuver. No specific award value or budget range is provided in the RFI, though vendors are requested to provide financial proposals as part of their responses. No industry day has been scheduled, no solicitation release date has been established, and all submissions will become government property and will not be returned to vendors.
Notice text
This Request for Information (RFI) initiates market research under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10 and is not a Request for Proposal. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Product Manager, Engineer Systems (PdM ES), is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of providing Tactical Gap Crossing Systems (TGCS) in support of Fleet Marine Force (FMF) operations. The TGCS is envisioned as an expeditionary bridging capability that affords Marine forces an expedient and transportable means to overcome natural and man-made obstacles to ensure tactical momentum and freedom of maneuver across the range of military operations. See attached for RFI details.
