About this opportunity
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has issued a Special Notice requesting information from industry stakeholders about a replacement for the obsolete OE-258/URN Antenna Group. This Request for Information (RFI) targets a TACAN Shore Based Antenna, seeking insights from various organizations including non-profits, research laboratories, and private companies. The RFI is specifically focused on gathering intelligence about current technical capabilities and potential solutions for a new antenna system. The opportunity is posted under Federal Contract Opportunity ID 51ce132435694febb40170a1e96982f5 and was published on May 27, 2025, with responses due by July 11, 2025. The notice pertains to radio navigation equipment within the Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing sector.
Contractors interested in participating must submit an unclassified, PDF-formatted response limited to ten pages, detailing their technical capacity, operational capabilities, and commentary on the attached TACAN Shore Based Antenna Performance Specification. The objective is to inform NAVAIR's near-term acquisition planning for a replacement antenna group, with strict guidelines prohibiting marketing materials and requiring comprehensive technical insights. All responses will be reviewed by government-contracted technical reviewers who have signed Non-Disclosure Agreements, and respondents must accurately mark data rights and distribution markings. While this RFI does not guarantee future contract opportunities, it provides a structured mechanism for industry input. Importantly, the government explicitly states that no costs incurred by contractors in preparing responses will be reimbursed, and the RFI should not be interpreted as a commitment to future solicitation or contract award.
