The antenna must interface directly with the AN/URN-32 TACAN Transponder and include an Antenna Controller meeting all applicable military standards specified in the attached technical documentation. Key requirements include operation within the 960-1215 MHz frequency band, minimum antenna gain of 8.0 dBi, specific radiation patterns, environmental resilience across extreme temperature ranges (-46°C to 49°C), and compliance with military standards including MIL-STD-291C, MIL-STD-461G, and MIL-STD-810H. Interested parties must submit capability information demonstrating their ability to meet these technical requirements, manufacturing capacity, and logistics support capabilities. The response deadline for this sources sought notice is April 30, 2026, and respondents should note this is market research only—no contract will be awarded based on these responses, and all parties must separately respond to any subsequent Request for Proposal.

This pre-solicitation notice carries no set-aside designation and does not identify any current incumbent contractor. NAVAIR's acquisition strategy involves procuring two test units followed by four option years of production, with an estimated maximum of five units annually over the five-year period of performance. The estimated total volume represents approximately 22 units (2 test units plus up to 20 production units across the option years). No specific budget range is disclosed in this sources sought notice, as the government is conducting acquisition planning to develop its RFP strategy. Respondents should expect that a formal solicitation will be issued at a later date, requiring separate submission of proposals and offering opportunities for small business participation in this defense acquisition program.
