Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) has a requirement to purchase a synthetic cartilage implant for a surgical procedure scheduled for 11 December 2018 with Dr. A. Raja. Only one implant shall be used however, the surgeon cannot determine the actual implant size till the surgery. The Cartiva Synthetic Cartilage Implant is intended for use in the treatment of patients with painful degenerative or post-traumatic arthritis in the first metatarsophalangeal joint, with or without the presence of mild hallux valgus. Cartiva patients return to pre-operative activities faster, require no cast and are immediately full weight bearing. Cartiva is the only approved product for treatment of 1st MTP Osteoarthitis and is less limiting than the alternative of a full surgical fusion of the joint. Intraoperative surgical time is reduced and this procedure results in a substantial reduction in pain and an improved range of motion. Failure to provide the needed supplies for these surgeries will result in diminished healthcare for the patients. The requirement is considered sole-sourced and must have FDA approvals as per vendor letter. All responses will be received no later than 10 December 2018, 10:00 AM EST. For more information please contact Ms. Cynthia A. Richardson, Cynthia.a.richardson.civ@mail.mil. No telephonic messages will be responded to.
