About this opportunity
The U.S. Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region (R5) plans to procure technical tree falling services to remove approximately 39 hazardous trees threatening high-value resources along Lake Tahoe's shores within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. The project aims to protect community safety and improve forest health across 6 acres in 19 different locations spanning Washoe, Douglas, El Dorado, and Placer Counties in California and Nevada. Only current holders of the existing R5 Pacific Southwest Stewardship Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) will be eligible to submit quotes for this competitive Request for Quotes (RFQ). The solicitation will be issued directly to LTBMU BPA holders via email in August 2025 rather than being posted on sam.gov. Award is planned for September 2025, and the work must be completed by September 30, 2026.
This opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is classified under NAICS Code 115310 for Support Activities for Forestry (Exception 2 - Fuels Management Services). No incumbent contractors or potential award values are specified in the synopsis. The scope involves technical falling of trees away from flagged resources, utilities, and private property to support the USDA's National Active Forest Management Strategy and Executive Order 14225 on Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production. The contracting office is located in Sisters, Oregon, and the project represents a targeted hazard mitigation effort in the environmentally sensitive Lake Tahoe basin. Since this is a synopsis that will not be followed by a traditional solicitation, interested parties must already hold the required BPA to participate in the upcoming procurement process.
