About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center is seeking to procure the design and development of a prototype system to test the concept of a model-scale direct-drive coaxial-rotor power system. The objective is to eliminate the need for a gearbox in a coaxial-rotor testbed and instead power each rotor independently using electric motors. The procurement includes two phases - Phase 1 to identify components, and Phase 2 to assemble and test the prototype system. Quotes are due by May 15, 2024, and the Government will award a contract to the responsible offeror whose quote represents the best value or the lowest priced technically acceptable offer.

This is a competitive 8(a) set-aside procurement. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 333999. The Government will provide the selected motors and motor drives as Government-Furnished Equipment for Phase 2. The place of performance is the United States, and the procurement does not have any specified budget ranges or quantities.
