About this opportunity
The Department of the Army has published a Special Notice containing supplemental questions and answers regarding the Commercial Tactical Truck (CTT) Acquisition of Interest (AOI) competitive solicitation process. This notice provides clarification and guidance to potential vendors interested in submitting proposals for the development and production of commercial or non-developmental item tactical vehicles. The solicitation is open to all eligible contractors with no set-asides applied. The notice was posted on April 1, 2026, and is classified under Heavy Duty Truck Manufacturing (NAICS 336120) and Combat, Assault, and Tactical Vehicles, Wheeled (PSC 2355). The Army is seeking proven, reliable commercial solutions with minimal modifications rather than heavily customized platforms for the initial increment of this acquisition.
The CTT program aims to acquire vehicles capable of operating on multiple fuel types including JP8, F24, and standard diesel, while producing 60 kilowatts of exportable power in High Voltage Direct Current format to support mission packages. Contractors must ensure U.S.-based production within 12 months of contract award, with the Army targeting contract award in the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 and 12-month vehicle delivery thereafter. Phase 1 white paper submissions are due by 1:00 PM EDT on April 8, 2026, followed by Phase 2 presentations approximately 25 days after Phase 1 submissions commence. The Army will provide a capabilities matrix and expanded desired attributes during Phase 2, allowing vendors to demonstrate alignment with mission requirements without imposing strict specifications, with final tradeoff decisions based on capability and cost. While tactical microgrid connectivity is a desired attribute, it is not a mandatory requirement. Variant mix and quantities will be finalized and communicated during Phase 2.
