About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Network Contracting Office 12 issued a Notice of Intent to Award a sole source contract to Sun Nuclear Corporation for a SunCheck Software License Subscription Upgrade for the Pharmacy Benefit Management Department at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois, with a response deadline of July 22, 2026. This is a Firm-Fixed Price procurement under FAR 12.102(a), restricting competition to the named vendor.
The VA justifies the sole source award based on Sun Nuclear's exclusive proprietary rights to the SunCheck software, a quality assurance tool for Radiation Oncology supporting APeX credentialing and protocols from AAPM and ASTRO. The current software at Hines VA is nine versions outdated and can only be upgraded through Sun Nuclear under an annual service agreement. The National Radiation Oncology Program has selected SunCheck across VA facilities and has negotiated national pricing with the vendor.
Any firm believing it can meet the requirement and provide an authorized letter for supply or services on this end-product may submit written interest and capability to Contracting Officer Arneil Genus at arneil.genus@va.gov within five calendar days of publication. Respondents must indicate business size status and ownership (large, small, small-disadvantaged, 8(a), woman-owned, U.S. or foreign-owned). If no written responses are received by the closing date, the VA will award the contract to Sun Nuclear without further notice. NAICS 513210; PSC 6515; SBA size standard $47.0 million.
