About this opportunity
The US Coast Guard is seeking contractors to replace a 15-ton HVAC system at Station New York Building 10, specifically requiring replacement of a severely corroded York condensing unit while retaining the operational CentralAire air handling unit. The original system was installed around 2005 and uses R-410A refrigerant, but the outdoor condensing unit has failed due to corrosion from the salt water operating environment and is no longer repairable. This procurement falls under NAICS code 238220 for Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors and is subject to prevailing wage requirements under the Davis-Bacon Act as well as Buy American Act compliance. The solicitation was posted on May 7, 2025, with proposals due by June 16, 2025, and interested contractors must refer to the Statement of Work for site visit information.
This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting participation to qualified small business contractors. The work will be performed at the Coast Guard station located in Staten Island, New York 10305, where contractors will need to navigate the challenging marine environment that contributed to the original equipment's premature failure. The project specifically involves replacing the 15-ton outdoor condensing unit while integrating with the existing indoor air handling system and separate hot water heating system. No incumbent contractor information or specific budget ranges were disclosed in the solicitation notice, though the specialized nature of the marine environment and prevailing wage requirements will likely influence pricing considerations.
