About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Drum is seeking a high-precision in-bore video microscope inspection system for examining internal bore surfaces of large-caliber tubes. The solicitation requires a Keyence VHX 7020 Digital Microscope system with specific technical capabilities, including 4K video resolution, 50-500x zoom, coaxial white light illumination, and both 2D and 3D measurement functions. The system must operate in shop environments with temperatures ranging from 10-45 degrees Celsius and be capable of reaching 60 degrees into bore surfaces from the breech face. The contract opportunity is posted on March 4, 2025, with proposals due by March 11, 2025. Detailed technical requirements include mechanical support systems, specific illumination capabilities, and precise positioning mechanisms for microscopic examination.
This contract is set aside exclusively for small businesses and will be awarded under the Instruments and Related Products Manufacturing NAICS category. The solicitation requires the manufacturer to provide a comprehensive delivery package including transportation and storage cases, NIST-certified calibration components, and on-site assistance. The contractor must conduct a factory acceptance test prior to shipping to Yuma Proving Ground and provide a minimum of three days of on-site training covering system setup, calibration, operation, data management, and maintenance. The contract includes a one-year warranty on all components from the date of acceptance, with shipping and handling included in the procurement. While no specific award value is mentioned, the complexity of the microscope system and the required training suggest a significant investment in specialized optical inspection technology for military equipment evaluation.
