About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command awarded contract FA488726P0110 to Wabtec Inspection Technologies Inc. for specialized borescopes on September 28, 2026, at a firm fixed price of $38,412.
The Air Force 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base issued a determination and findings document on September 19, 2026, authorizing single-source acquisition under FAR Part 12 commercial item procedures and RFO 6.103-1(b). The contract value falls below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold. Market research conducted from August 3 to September 11, 2026, initially identified a GSA contract holder, but that vendor subsequently filed for bankruptcy, leaving the manufacturer as the sole viable source. The contracting officer determined that a new competitive solicitation would yield no quotes and would delay procurement, risking critical maintenance impacts to sortie production. Price fairness and reasonableness were to be determined per FAR 12.204(a) prior to award.
Notice text
The contract action was previously competed on GSA eBuy and awarded to the only small business on GSA that carried the product that was needed. That small business suddenly became unable to fulfil the requirement, and the requirement was subsequently to the manufacturer under the authority of RFO 6.103-1(b). This requirement was firm fixed price.
Awarded contract FA488726P0110 to Wabtec Inspection Technologies, Inc. for 38412.00 on 2026-09-28.
