About this opportunity
The US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) is conducting market research for the Special Warfare Enhanced Visual Augmentation System (EVAS), seeking multi-spectral night vision goggles for dismounted airmen. The procurement targets non-developmental, production-ready solutions to replace legacy devices currently used by Air Force Special Warfare operators who lack fully-integrated multi-spectral night vision systems with ATAK-integrated augmented reality capability. Key requirements include detection ranges up to 1000 meters, visibility across multiple infrared bands, weight under 32 ounces, durability meeting MIL-STD-810G standards, and 6-hour battery life. Interested vendors must submit responses not exceeding 12 pages that include company details, technical specifications, test results, cost estimates, warranty terms, and potential product improvements. The response deadline is September 24, 2025, at 12:00 PM Eastern time, with submissions required electronically to specified Air Force contacts.
This opportunity has no set-aside designation and is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. firms, encouraging broad industry participation. No current incumbents or contractors are identified in the notice, as this represents market research for systems to address capability gaps in existing first-generation multi-spectral night vision goggles that are characterized as heavy, low-resolution, high-latency devices with limited field of view. The document does not specify award values, budget ranges, or quantities of units to be procured. Prospective contractors must maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible for future solicitations. The RFI emphasizes that this is strictly for informational and market research purposes and does not constitute a formal solicitation, though the information gathered may inform future acquisition strategies for this specialized night vision technology.

- BACKGROUND AND SCOPE
The United States (US) Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR & SOF) Directorate, Strike Systems Program Office (AFLCMC/WISS) is conducting market research to identify systems capable of providing Multi-spectral Night Vision Goggles for dismounted airmen. Non-developmental, production-ready solutions are needed to replace and upgrade legacy devices.
- CAPABILITY GAP
Air Force Special Warfare (SW) Operators lack a fully-integrated multi-spectral Night Vision System that combines the latest sensor technology with ATAK-integrated Augmented reality capability. Fielded first-generation multi-spectral NVGs are heavy, have low-resolution high-latency thermal sensors, and limited field of view for the thermal image and Augmented Reality (AR) overlay. Improved systems are needed to increase operator situational awareness, improved threat detection and search capability, and to minimize neck-strain and fatigue from wearing heavy, lower-performing devices.
