This special notice represents market research conducted by the Department of the Navy to gauge industry capability and interest in performing depot-level maintenance, repair, and alterations on the USS GRIDLEY, a DDG-51 class destroyer. The government is particularly interested in identifying small business contractors capable of executing this work. An anticipated request for proposals (RFP) is scheduled for release in May 2026, with the actual depot modernization period expected to occur between March 16, 2027, and November 20, 2028. The anticipated contract type will be firm-fixed price, and the solicitation will be issued on a Coast-wide (West Coast) basis.

Contractors responding to this sources sought notice must already possess current NAVSEA Master Ship Repair Agreements (MSRA) and Agreements for Boat Repair (ABR) and must submit their notice of interest by April 24, 2026. The work scope encompasses approximately 207,071 total man-days, including maintenance activities such as hull structure repairs, propulsion plant maintenance, and armament work, as well as modernization efforts including installation of advanced command and surveillance systems and berthing modifications. The successful contractor must have facilities capable of supporting DDG-51 class ships, including a dry dock with mean pier water depth exceeding 33 feet and specific electrical, water, and compressed air supply capacities as outlined in the procurement documents.
