About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Materiel Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground is conducting market research to identify sources capable of supplying three pulsed neodymium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) lasers and one Aiming Beam Module for alignment purposes. Prospective contractors must demonstrate the capability to meet rigorous technical specifications, including tunable energy from zero to at least 850 millijoules per pulse, pulse width of 5-7 nanoseconds, a wavelength of 1,064 nanometers, and a 10 Hertz pulse repetition rate with single-shot capability. The laser systems must achieve a beam diameter of 7-12 millimeters, divergence less than 0.5 milliradians, and 2% pulse-to-pulse energy stability over eight hours, while fitting within dimensional constraints of 25" x 25" x 15" for the power supply and 25" x 10" x 10" for the laser head. Contractors will be evaluated on their capability to meet all technical and operational requirements, business type and small business status, and prior performance on relevant projects, with particular emphasis on demonstrated prior sales of at least two identical laser systems within the past two years. Responses to this sources sought notice must be submitted by April 21, 2026, at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time via email to Meghan Dumler, Contract Specialist, at the contracting office located in Adelphi, Maryland.

Contractors must demonstrate their ability to provide comprehensive system support, including remote control units, computer interface software, cooling units with air-to-water heat exchangers, quick installation kits, four replacement water cartridges, and a minimum two-year warranty. The Aiming Beam Module must incorporate a visible class two laser collinear with the main beam and be directly interchangeable on a plug-and-play basis across all supplied laser systems. This pre-solicitation notice serves as market research with the anticipated solicitation number W911QX26QA056, allowing interested firms a seven-day window from posting to respond with capability statements and references.
