About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is seeking a contractor to perform engine replacement and trailer repairs for a 2003 Boston Whaler Model 27. The primary objective is to replace two inoperable 2014 Mercury 250 four-stroke engines with two new 2024 Mercury four-stroke engines and restore the associated boat trailer to fully operational condition. Contractors must possess necessary credentials to work on Mercury motors without voiding warranties and complete all peripheral equipment installation, including new depth finder GPS, trim tabs, harnesses, wiper kits, ignition switches, and electronic assemblies. The work will be performed at the contractor's facility, with final operational testing to be conducted at Lake Mead or another mutually agreed location. Responses to this sources sought notice are due by July 5, 2025, and the government will evaluate contractors based on their technical capabilities, warranty preservation, and ability to comprehensively address all repair and replacement requirements.
This pre-solicitation notice does not have a specific set-aside designation and no incumbent contractor is mentioned. The total project scope includes replacing four trailer tires, repacking wheel bearings, installing new LED and clearance lights, replacing wood planks, and upgrading the brake system, in addition to the engine replacement. The contract requires full completion within 30 days of award, with a final inspection and one-hour operational water testing to verify functionality. While no specific award value is provided, the comprehensive nature of the work suggests a moderate-complexity marine repair contract. Potential contractors must demonstrate expertise in marine engine installation, trailer rehabilitation, and possess the technical credentials required to work with Mercury marine equipment without compromising manufacturer warranties.
