About this opportunity
Naval Sea Systems Command, through Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, intends to award a sole-source five-year Basic Ordering Agreement to Sierra Nevada Corporation for Common Chassis Weapons Replaceable Assemblies, Shop Replaceable Assemblies, and Sub-Assemblies, with an August 6, 2026 award date and a contract ceiling of $8.4 million. The procurement is justified under FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) based on lack of sufficient technical data, extensive duplication costs including re-engineering and re-certifications, environmental qualifications, and unacceptable delays through any other source. Sierra Nevada is the original designer, developer, and manufacturer of the Multi Sensor Department systems and possesses sole technical data and expertise; developing alternative sources is estimated to cost $16.9 million with five-year delays.
Work encompasses repair, rework, maintenance, engineering and logistics support, test and evaluation, research and development, redesign and modification, training, data collection, and Organic depot activation in support of Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PMUAS/PMA-262), Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft (MPRA/PMA-290), Submarine Systems Program (PMS-435), and Naval Undersea Warfare Center platforms. Funding derives from Aircraft Procurement-Navy, Operations and Maintenance-Navy, and Research, Development Test and Evaluation appropriations. A Request for Information closed April 15, 2022, and a synopsis closed July 17, 2026, yielding no responses from competing sources. Contact: Angela Cooperider, angela.w.cooperider.civ@us.navy.mil, 812-381-7267.
