About this opportunity

The National Gallery of Art is seeking experienced construction contractors for an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract focused on small construction, repair, and renovation projects. The solicitation targets contractors capable of performing a wide range of construction services, including repairs, renovations, and new construction across various project scales. Contractors will be responsible for providing facilities, equipment, materials, and services that meet specific quality standards, with replacement parts and components being equal or superior to original equipment specifications. The pre-solicitation notice indicates that contractors must ensure all work conforms to original design and manufacturer intent, using high-quality industrial-grade materials. The current solicitation is open, with responses due by May 10, 2024, and the National Gallery of Art reserves the right to not proceed beyond this initial announcement.

The contract opportunity is not set aside for any specific business category and anticipates awarding between one and three contractors. Project scales range from less than $25,000 to up to $5,000,000, with individual task orders determining specific project magnitudes. The proposed contract structure includes one base year and four potential one-year option periods, which can be exercised at the National Gallery of Art's discretion. The NAICS code 236220 for Commercial and Institutional Building Construction indicates the broad scope of potential work, and the PSC category Y1JA specifically relates to museum and exhibition building construction. While no incumbent contractors are mentioned, the solicitation suggests a comprehensive approach to construction services that could encompass repairs, renovations, and potentially new construction projects for the National Gallery of Art's facilities.
