About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force issued a Special Notice of intent to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price purchase order to Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, Inc., North Kingstown, Rhode Island, for a Small CMM Replacement at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, with a response deadline of May 26, 2026. The acquisition is restricted to Hexagon under FAR 12.201-1 based on lack of authorized resellers in the Oklahoma region and Hexagon's corporate policy prohibiting third-party dealer sales, requiring direct OEM procurement. The Air Force's justification centers on interoperability and cost avoidance: the existing dimensional measurement inventory at Oklahoma City utilizes Hexagon equipment and proprietary PC-DMIS software; procuring a non-Hexagon CMM would incur an estimated $4.2 million cost to recreate existing inspection programs plus significant retraining expenses. The requirement falls under NAICS 334519 (Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing) with a 600-employee size standard and uses PSC 4920 (Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Shop Specialized Equipment). Interested parties must submit quotes and capability information electronically through SAM.gov; contractor registration in SAM with an active UEI is required prior to award. No telephone requests will be accepted.
