About this opportunity
The National Park Service Alaska Region is soliciting quotations from multiple artists to provide onsite Northwest Coast art demonstrations at Sitka National Historical Park during the high visitor season from May 1, 2026, through September 30, 2026. The demonstrations will take place during business hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., with artists working in three provided studio spaces specializing in wood carving, weaving and regalia, and metals work. The NPS requires a minimum of four artists and will evaluate quotations based on three primary criteria: price, technical capability (including demonstrated knowledge of Northwest Coast art genres, documentation of artistic accomplishments in museums or private collections, and ability to provide personal tools and materials), and prior experience (specifically two examples of completed cultural resource projects with the National Park Service or other government/private entities within the past five years, and two examples demonstrating customer service and educational abilities). Quotations must be submitted by email to Francisco_Velasco@nps.gov by February 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Alaska Standard Time, with vendor questions accepted through February 2, 2026.
This is a 100 percent Total Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS code 711510 (Independent Artists, Writers, and Performers), with a $9,000,000 size standard threshold determining small business eligibility. The contract is structured as a firm fixed price agreement for one line item covering onsite Northwest Coast art demonstrations, and performance will occur at Sitka National Historical Park in Alaska. While the government will provide three heated studio spaces equipped with basic tools, tables, chairs, a weaving loom, and materials, artists are responsible for demonstrating their craft, educating visitors, maintaining clean workspaces, and optionally submitting one completed art piece for the park's museum collection. All vendors must be willing to submit to background checks as a condition of award. Payment requests must be submitted electronically through the U.S. Department of Treasury's Invoice Processing Platform using company letterhead with the stated contract number.
