About this opportunity

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has issued a special notice regarding the extension of their existing Sign Language Interpreting Services (SLIS II) contract with MAF. This extension is being processed as a sole source modification under FAR 6.302-1 procedures, specifically authorized under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1). The contract is designated as a Woman-Owned Small Business sole source award and falls under the Translation and Interpretation Services NAICS category. The notice was posted on July 7, 2025, and represents NGA's intent to continue essential support services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees. The contract extension covers both continental United States (CONUS) and outside continental United States (OCONUS) locations.

The primary purpose of this extension is to ensure uninterrupted sign language interpreting services for NGA's DHH employees while the agency develops a follow-on contract. The extension period totals 9 months, structured as one 7-month option followed by one 2-month option. NGA has determined that MAF is the only contractor reasonably available to meet these requirements due to their current skills, experience, and necessary TS/SCI security clearance. While this is not a competitive solicitation, interested firms may submit written notification to the Contract Specialist by 2:00 PM EST on July 14, 2025, with supporting evidence demonstrating their ability to meet the requirements. The government retains sole discretion to determine whether to compete the procurement based on any responses received. Points of contact are Collin M. Larson (Contracting Specialist) and Haydee L. Soto-Carreras (Contracting Officer).

Notice text

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) intends to extend the existing Sign Language Interpreting Services (SLIS II) contract with MAF via sole source modification, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 procedures in accordance with authority 10 U.S.C. § 3204(a)(1). The Government has determined that MAF is the only source reasonably available to satisfy this requirement by continuing to provide services to support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) employees. MAF has the current skills, experience, and TS/SCI clearance to continue to perform all functional areas of support within both CONUS and OCONUS locations. These attributes provided by the current contractor are essential to NGA’s logistics operations to ensure there are no gaps in mission until the follow-on contract is completed.

The period of performance of the extension to the current contract will be for a total of 9 months (one 7-month option and one 2-month option).

This is a special notice prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 5.2 Synopses of Proposed Contract Actions and is not a request for competitive proposals. A solicitation will not be posted for the extension, however if any firm believes they can meet this requirement may give written notification to the Contract Specialist no later than 2:00pm EST on July 14, 2025. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirement. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.

Points of contact for this requirement are Collin M. Larson, Contracting Specialist, Collin.M.Larson@nga.mil or Haydee L. Soto-Carreras, Contracting Officer, at Haydee.L.SotoCarreras@nga.mil.
