About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command seeks ruggedized, autonomous, or remote-controlled robotic target systems for live-fire tactical training at Vandenberg Space Force Base, with responses due June 19 and an anticipated formal solicitation date of June 22. This is a Sources Sought / Request for Information notice with no set-aside.
Place of performance is Lompoc, California. The system must achieve a minimum top speed of 10 mph, operate continuously for 8 hours on a single charge, and maintain a remote control range of 100 meters Line of Sight with a robust RF control link. The target torso must survive a minimum of 3,000 rounds of mixed 5.56mm and 9mm frangible ammunition and withstand standard ball ammunition where frangible supplies are constrained, with field-interchangeable components requiring no specialized tools. Durability extends across operating temperatures from 40°F to 85°F.
Deliverables include one robotic target base system with armored drive base, 4-zone live-fire sensor target, single-zone acoustic target, charger, and transmitter; two non-networked, direct-RF command and control base stations with antennas, chargers, and AC adapters; and two standalone, non-networked ruggedized tablets or controllers. The contractor is responsible for complete on-site installation, sensor calibration, site acceptance testing demonstrating full operational functionality with zero system faults, and site restoration at Vandenberg.
NAICS code is 332994, Small Arms, Ordnance, and Ordnance Accessories Manufacturing. PSC code is 6920, Armament Training Devices.
