About this opportunity
NASA's Shared Services Center (NASA/NSSC) issued this Special Notice on February 5, 2026, announcing its intention to award a sole source service contract to Malvern Panalytical Inc. for the renewal of maintenance and support services for a PANalytical Empyrean X-ray diffraction instrument at NASA Glenn Research Center during Fiscal Year 2026. The contract will be procured under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) authority, which permits sole source awards for commercial items and services. The NAICS classification for this effort is 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance), with the PSC code J066 identifying it as maintenance, repair, and rebuild work for laboratory equipment.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to provide interested organizations an opportunity to submit written capabilities and qualifications demonstrating their ability to perform the required services, with the Government retaining sole discretion to determine whether to proceed with the sole source award or conduct a full and open competitive procurement. Interested contractors must submit only written communications; oral communications are not acceptable. The Statement of Work requires the contractor to provide emergency and scheduled maintenance services, including unlimited labor for emergency visits, parts replacement, telephone support during business hours, and a minimum of one preventative maintenance visit, with response required within 48 hours for equipment breakdowns. All services must be performed by factory-trained service engineers and include labor, travel, and shipping costs, though software upgrades and certain excluded items (consumables, computers, peripherals, and X-ray tubes) are not covered. Laura Quave, Procurement Specialist at NASA/NSSC, serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries.
