About this opportunity
The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), a Power Marketing Agency under the Department of Energy, is conducting market research to determine the capabilities of potential contractors to perform design-build work for the end-of-lifecycle replacement of four 525-kV series capacitor banks within the California Oregon Transmission Project. The contractor would be responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction to remove and replace the existing series capacitor banks with new in-kind equipment, as well as integrate the new banks into WAPA's existing substation. The applicable NAICS code is 237130 - Power and Communication Line and Related Structures Construction, with a size standard of $45.0M. The estimated construction price range for this project is between $75,000,000 and $125,000,000. Interested parties are encouraged to provide feedback by November 18, 2024, including information on their firm, bonding capability, and past performance on similar design-build projects.
This opportunity is not set aside, and no incumbent contractors are named. The Government anticipates issuing the solicitation within the next 10-14 months, with a targeted completion date of June 30, 2033. Interested firms must be able to demonstrate sufficient bonding capacity within the estimated construction range.
