About this opportunity
The National Park Service, Contracting Operations Central, Arizona Major Acquisition Buying Office, has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract for Sensus MXU supply at Grand Canyon National Park. The notice pertains to the replacement of existing water meter reading system components, specifically the MXU models, which are becoming incompatible with future technological requirements. Located in Coconino County, Arizona, the park has been using a SENSUS-based radio read water meter system since 1995, with approximately 800 water meters currently installed. This acquisition will be conducted using simplified acquisition procedures and is classified under NAICS 335999 with a small business size standard of 600 employees. The notice emphasizes that this is a sole source notice and not a competitive request for quotations.
The primary objective of this special notice is to procure new MXU water meter components that are compatible with the park's current SENSUS water meter-remote radio read meter system telemetry software. The contractor will be responsible for supplying new MXUs to replace existing units, with park utility staff handling removal, disposal, and installation of the new equipment. Potential contractors interested in providing these services are invited to contact the Contracting Officer, Jessica Owens, at jessica_owens@nps.gov for additional information or specifications. The government will evaluate responses to determine whether to proceed with a non-competitive strategy, and firms believing they have the necessary capabilities are encouraged to reach out. The notice indicates a commercial acquisition approach, with the ultimate goal of transitioning to a DOI-approved tablet and iOS setup for water meter reading. Eligibility appears to be open to small businesses within the specified NAICS category that can meet the technical requirements of the Sensus MXU water meter system.
