About this opportunity
The United States Marine Corps seeks to sell a minimum of 20,000 pounds of miscellaneous scrap lead acid batteries (all sizes), palletized and shrink wrapped, with bids due July 31, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. EST. This is a government property sale, not a procurement contract; the Marine Corps invites bids from buyers who will remove and take title to the material.
Place of performance and inspection location is Building 1205, Noisemaker Road, MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina 29904. Prospective buyers may inspect the property by calling 843-228-6458 to schedule an appointment prior to bid submission.
The government reserves the right to vary the quantity tendered by up to 10 percent due to weight variations. Award will be made to the highest responsive and responsible bidder. Buyers must be United States citizens eligible to obtain export licenses and subject to export control compliance requirements. Buyers must provide DOT-approved trucks with spillage control devices and comply with all DOT containment, safety, environmental, and OSHA requirements.
A 20 percent deposit via certified check payable to the U.S. Treasury is required prior to pickup. The remaining balance is invoiced after deducting average pallet weights of 50 pounds per pallet, with payment due within 15 calendar days of invoice date (excluding holidays). Pickup is available 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. The buyer assumes all liability for the material upon receipt, is responsible for load securing and cleanup of spillage, and must obtain weight tickets at certified base scales. The agreement may be terminated for default, resulting in loss of deposit and potential debarment from future purchases. The NAICS code is 423930, Recyclable Material Merchant Wholesalers.
