About this opportunity

Here is a two-paragraph summary of the key details in the Pre-solicitation Notice:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking sources to support its Resources for Improvement of Surveillance and Emergency Response (RISER) program. The purpose of the RISER contract is to produce and distribute high-quality reference pathogens, positive controls, detection kits, proficiency panels, and other reagents to aid in CDC's surveillance activities, diagnostic product development and testing, vaccine development, and other related research. The CDC is looking for organizations capable of performing these services and regularly updating the RISER inventory to reflect current and novel pathogen strains. Respondents should provide information on their capabilities, anticipated subcontracting needs, and feedback on the draft Statement of Work. Responses are due by September 17, 2024.

This procurement is not set aside for any specific business size or type. Based on the responses received, the requirement may be set aside for small businesses or procured through full and open competition. No incumbent contractors were identified. The value of the RISER contract is not specified, but the work involves production and distribution of pathogens, controls, and other reagents to support CDC's public health surveillance and research activities.

Notice text

The purpose of RISER reagents is to assist in characterization of pathogens as part of CDC surveillance activities; to aid in the development, evaluation, validation and testing of diagnostic products; to support vaccine development; and to support other research activities that increase awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the public health issues related to these pathogens. The RISER inventory of pathogens and other reagents will be regularly updated during contract performance to ensure that the catalog reflects current circulating or novel pathogen strains relevant to the ongoing surveillance and research activities of CDC and its partner laboratories.
