About this opportunity
The 56th Contracting Squadron (Air Education and Training Command) is conducting market research via a Request for Information (RFI) for an OMAX 55100 abrasive jet water cutting system, with responses due June 12, 2026. This is a RFI for planning purposes only and does not obligate contract award or payment of proposal costs.
Place of performance is Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. The Metals Technology Section seeks to replace an aging water jet system to reduce downtime and increase production capacity driven by F-35 workload demands. A parallel purchase by partner unit DET-9 is intended to enable cross-flow of repair parts and assets.
The OMAX 55100 specifications require a footprint of 15'1" length by 8'9" width by 10' height with work envelope dimensions of 8'4" (X-axis), 4'7" (Y-axis), and 8" (Z-axis) with motorized control. Linear accuracy of .001", cutting speeds of 180 in/min, and noise generation below 80 dBA at one meter are mandatory. The system operates on three-phase, 380–480 VAC ±10%, 50–60 Hz electrical service and includes a 30 HP pump with continuous 0.067 GPM capacity at 60,000 PSI and 1,000-hour maintenance intervals. The equipment must meet federal green energy requirements and carry an IUID tag plate per MIL-STD-130x.
The procurement includes a 2-year standard warranty with free 5-day training, 3-day on-site installation, and software support. Optional add-on packages include a Water Recycling System with 5-ton chiller, Collision Sensing Terrain Follower, Tilt-A-Jet cutting head, and Variable Speed Solids Removal System.
Respondents should identify firm information, business size and any applicable small business certifications, required response time to a future RFQ, and preferred question-posting protocol.
