About this opportunity

UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries, Inc., Office Furniture Group, a division of the Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons, is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential contractors for sales and marketing services of office furniture products, including systems furniture, case goods, seating, metals, and accessory items. This is a pre-solicitation notice that will not result in an immediate contract award but will be used to develop an acquisition strategy. The successful contractor must establish and maintain a sales force with a minimum of 2 regional managers and 8 sales representatives covering the United States, Alaska, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii, with 24-hour customer response capability. Key personnel requirements include a National Sales Manager with seven years of contract furniture management experience in federal or commercial markets and regional managers with a minimum of five years of government or commercial furniture sales experience. The deadline for submitting responses to this RFI is May 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM EST, with all questions required to be submitted in writing by the same date and time.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation and is not identified with any current incumbent contractors in the available documentation. Compensation for the selected contractor will be structured as 3 to 3.5 percent of monthly invoiced sales, subject to annual review, with all operational costs including salaries, benefits, office expenses, and travel borne solely by the contractor. The contractor will be responsible for maintaining UNICOR-owned customer databases, submitting monthly sales reports by the fifth of each month, and ensuring all sales personnel obtain appropriate security clearances and NCIC checks prior to employment. No specific contract value or duration is outlined in the RFI materials, as this market research phase is designed to gather information on contractor capabilities and market conditions before finalizing the acquisition strategy. Interested contractors should submit company information and relevant qualifications directly to Brent Ponder, Contracting Officer, at Brent.Ponder@usdoj.gov.
