About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior's Interior Business Center has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking industry input on large enterprise hosting solutions for data center and cloud analysis as part of their acquisition planning and market research phase. The agency currently operates 871 data center facilities across 46 locations, supporting 250 significant IT systems and approximately 200 software/license applications, with existing cloud environments in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google. The RFI aims to explore strategies for consolidating data centers, modernizing legacy systems, preventing cloud sprawl, and improving cost efficiency and mission performance. Interested vendors must submit written responses by July 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, and selected companies will be invited to participate in 2-hour capability briefings scheduled for July 17-18, 2025. The evaluation will focus on five key areas including hosting solution strategies, implementation timelines and cost estimates, organizational structure design, and identification of participating companies with relevant past performance.
This opportunity does not include any set-aside designations and no incumbent contractors are identified in the documentation. The RFI does not specify award values or budget ranges, as this is strictly an information-gathering exercise that will not result in contract awards or binding commitments from the government. The scope encompasses DOI's substantial IT infrastructure footprint of 871 data centers distributed across 46 geographic locations nationwide, indicating a large-scale enterprise transformation initiative. Performance locations would likely span the Department of the Interior's nationwide facilities, though the capability briefings will be conducted at the Main Interior Building in Washington, DC. The government has emphasized that no reimbursement will be provided for costs associated with responding to this RFI, and responses cannot form the basis of a binding contract.
