About this opportunity

NASA Kennedy Space Center and U.S. Space Force Space Launch Delta 45 are conducting a Request for Information to identify U.S. entities capable of designing, constructing, and operating a regional liquefied natural gas production and storage facility on Kennedy Space Center or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station property, with responses due September 21, 2026. The facility will support commercial launch providers operating methane-fueled vehicles and operate under an Enhanced Use Lease as a commercially owned and operated entity.

Respondents must address transportation and access requirements, production capacity and storage volumes, operational concepts including liquefaction configuration, safety and environmental compliance to NFPA 59A and 49 CFR 193, utility demands and land acreage needs, and justification for on-site versus alternative industrial locations in Brevard County. Estimated 10-year requirements range from approximately 5,000 gallons per day in 2026 to 160,000 gallons per day by 2035, but the government has not established baseline capacity or storage requirements; suppliers must work directly with commercial launch providers (including Blue Origin, SpaceX, ULA, and Stoke Space) to develop firm quantity needs. Facility siting has not been determined and will be informed by RFI responses. Natural gas feedstock may be available through existing utility infrastructure, but respondents should evaluate redundant supply sources. Off-site LNG sales are permissible provided mission readiness is not compromised. All tenants must comply with state and federal environmental requirements and wetland mitigation processes.

Responses must not exceed ten pages, use Times New Roman 12-point font, and be submitted in PDF format to Christina.L.Williams@nasa.gov with "RFI-KSC-LNG-2026" in the subject line. Amendment 01, issued August 24, 2026, extended the original August 24 due date to September 21, 2026, and published Q&A clarifications addressing industry inquiries.
