About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials has issued a Request for Information seeking industry input on the potential acquisition of refractory metal wires for the National Defense Stockpile. The RFI is designed to gather comprehensive vendor capabilities and market information across multiple categories including general company data, material specifications, supply chain details, delivery capabilities, storage requirements, and market trends. Vendors must demonstrate their ability to supply various grades of refractory metal wires, including production capabilities, impurity testing procedures, and long-term storage considerations. Responses are limited to 20 single-sided pages in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format with 12-point font maximum, and proprietary information must be clearly marked. The submission deadline is September 10, 2025 at 12:00 PM EST, with responses to be submitted via email to Adam Steele at DLA Strategic Materials.

This procurement opportunity does not include any set-aside designations and no current contractors or incumbents are identified in the notice. The government seeks to acquire approximately 10 metric tons of refractory metal wires, with potential delivery locations including depots in Hammond, Indiana; Hawthorne, Nevada; and Scotia, New York. No specific budget ranges or award values are disclosed in the RFI documentation. The RFI emphasizes that this is purely for planning purposes and does not constitute a commitment by the government to proceed with an acquisition, and responses will not be returned to vendors. DLA Strategic Materials representatives may choose to meet with potential offerors for further clarification discussions regarding capability requirements and any associated development or certification risks.
