About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is seeking industry input for supporting the 402nd Software Engineering Group at Robins Air Force Base in organic sustainment for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter's AN/APG-81 Radar and AN/AAQ-37 Distributed Aperture System (DAS) Operational Flight Programs (OFP). The Request for Information (RFI) focuses on systems software engineering services, including modifying and expanding radar and DAS products, collaborating on problem investigation and resolution, and addressing up to 24 Radar Deficiency Reports and 17 DAS Deficiency Reports. The government is requesting detailed company information across four sections: Company Profile, Capability, Proposed Approach, and Additional Comments. Technical requirements include establishing and maintaining a point-to-point network connection between government and contractor networks, supporting cybersecurity efforts, and ensuring ongoing network availability. Responses are due by Friday, 18 April 2025 at 12:00pm EST, with the critical understanding that this RFI is solely for information gathering and does not constitute a formal solicitation or commitment to contract.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this opportunity, making it open to a broad range of potential contractors. While no specific award value or budget range is currently disclosed, the scope suggests a complex, technical engagement requiring specialized software engineering capabilities for advanced military radar and sensor systems. The potential contract will involve supporting critical maintenance and improvement efforts for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter's radar and distributed aperture systems, which implies a potentially significant and ongoing technical services requirement. The government's approach of gathering information suggests they are conducting thorough market research to understand industry capabilities before formally structuring the solicitation. Potential contractors should be prepared to demonstrate extensive experience in software engineering, network integration, cybersecurity, and military aerospace technology systems.
Notice text

In accordance with FAR 52.215-3, Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes, the Government will not pay for any information/items submitted in response to the RFI. No determination as to the viability of this potential requirement has been made at this point and there is currently no solicitation for this effort.
