About this opportunity

Air Forces Northern (AFNORTH), part of the Defense Information Systems Agency, is seeking industry input for developing a Tactical Secure Voice/Anti-Jam Radio Communication solution. The Request for Information (RFI) aims to gather comprehensive technical details for a non-Satellite Communication Line of Sight (LOS) radio system to support air defense and aerospace surveillance operations across 148 remote sites in the Continental United States. Key contract requirements include secure voice capabilities, anti-jam technology, UHF and VHF frequency operations, and compatibility with existing enterprise systems. Vendors must submit a white paper response by April 11, 2025, at 1700 CST, with questions accepted until March 28, 2025. The evaluation will focus on technical specifications, performance characteristics, scalability, and potential cost structures, with potential for follow-on discussions.

The RFI indicates no specific set-aside designations and does not guarantee a contract award. Some locations already have PRC-117G equipment in place, suggesting potential compatibility considerations for new system implementation. The procurement will cover communication systems critical for aerospace control and air defense in the continental United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and surrounding seas up to 500 nautical miles. While no specific budget range is detailed, the complexity of the required secure, anti-jam radio communications implies a significant potential investment. The government emphasizes that this RFI is strictly for information gathering, with responses to be treated as preliminary research and not as formal proposals. Interested companies are expected to provide detailed technical capabilities without expectation of immediate contract negotiation.
