About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials Directorate has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the potential acquisition of 4,000 metric tons of vanadium pentoxide to be added to the National Defense Stockpile. Interested vendors must submit comprehensive 20-page capability statements addressing their general data, material information, supply chain capabilities, delivery details, storage conditions, and market insights related to vanadium pentoxide production and distribution. The government is seeking detailed information about vendor capabilities including production grades, impurity levels, testing methods, pricing structures, and ability to meet the government's requirements. Potential delivery locations include Hammond Depot in Indiana, Hawthorne Depot in Nevada, and Scotia Depot in New York. All responses must be submitted via email to the contract specialist Dylan Stone and Contracting Officer Mitchell Hatfield with "RFI - Vanadium" in the subject line, and submissions must be received by 5:00 PM EST on September 10, 2025.
This procurement opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified vendors. No current contractors or incumbents are identified in the solicitation documents. While no specific contract value or budget range is disclosed in the RFI, the substantial quantity of 4,000 metric tons of vanadium pentoxide indicates a significant procurement opportunity given the strategic nature of the material for national defense stockpiling purposes. The RFI emphasizes that submissions are voluntary and do not guarantee future contract awards, suggesting this is an information-gathering phase that may lead to a formal solicitation. Vendors are expected to provide extensive technical and commercial details about their vanadium pentoxide capabilities to help the government assess market capacity and develop acquisition strategies.
