About this opportunity
The Department of the Army has issued a Request for Information (RFI) regarding Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (sUAS) Modular Lethal and Kinetic Payloads. This special notice seeks industry and government feedback on potential common interface standards for integrating modular mission payloads into small unmanned aerial systems. The RFI is specifically focused on exploring payload technologies, including warhead, fuzing, flight body, and arming and release mechanisms. The document was published on February 25, 2025, with a response deadline of March 31, 2025. The notice covers potential technological standards for modular payload integration into small unmanned aerial systems.
Contractors interested in responding must submit their information electronically to https://safe.apps.mil/ by 1500 PM EST on March 31, 2025. Acceptable submission formats include white papers (maximum 3 pages) or PowerPoint presentations (maximum 10 slides with an optional 60-second video). Respondents are required to provide their company name, business size, and CAGE code, with small businesses encouraged to identify their specific socio-economic category. The U.S. Government emphasizes that this RFI is purely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a formal solicitation or guarantee of future contract award. Responses will be evaluated to help define common interface standards for the Picatinny Common Lethality Integration Kit, with a focus on size, weight, and power requirements of existing payloads. Interested parties can direct any questions to Contract Specialist Kadeem Edwards or Contract Officer Kim Potempa Niedosik via the email addresses provided in the notice.

Request for Information (RFI) – Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems Modular Lethal and Kinetic Payloads
The United States (U.S.) Government intends to inform common interface standards for small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (sUAS) integrated with Modular Mission Payloads (MMP). The Picatinny CLIK Common Lethality Integration Kit interface standard will simplify integration and qualification of MMPs for sUAS, enabling rapid prototyping, experimentation and fielding. The purpose of this RFI is to collect responses from industry and Government organizations regarding sUAS modular lethal and kinetic payloads, to include both the effector (warhead, fuzing, flight body, etc.) along with the arming and release mechanism. Responses should include size, weight, and power requirements of the existing payload.
Respondents should submit their feedback and information in the following format(s):
White papers- 3 pages maximum
Powerpoint Presentations- 10 slides maximum (if a video is included in your PowerPoint Presentation, the video shall only be 60 seconds maximum)
Interested parties responding to this RFI must provide the following information:
- Company Name
- Business Size
- If your company is a small business, please identify any socio-economic category that applies
- Cage Code
Responses to the RFI will be evaluated to inform common interface definitions with the Picatinny Common Lethality Integration Kit based on the size, weight, and power requirements of the existing payload.
Responses should be submitted electronically to https://safe.apps.mil/ no later than 31 March 2025 by 1500 PM EST.
Please submit any questions regarding this RFI to: Contract Specialist, Kadeem Edwards kadeem.a.edwards.civ@army.mil or Contract Officer, Kim Potempa Niedosik kim.m.potempaniedosik.civ@army.mil. No phone conversations will be held for this RFI.
This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation for proposals or bids, an invitation to bid, or an obligation on the part of the U.S. Government to award a contract. The U.S. Government will not be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties in responding to this RFI.
Respondents are advised that the U.S. Government will not be obligated to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information provided.
