About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (USACE ERDC) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research on vendors capable of fabricating Modular Protection System-Overhead Cover (MPS-OHC) units to specification. This is a pre-solicitation notice only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or commitment to contract. The primary objectives are to identify sources with competencies in steel fabrication, determine vendor availability and capability to deliver the finished products to specified locations, and gauge interest in participation before a formal Request for Quote is released. The required goods involve fabrication of structural steel and aluminum components using advanced manufacturing techniques including robotic welding, plasma cutting, thermal drilling, and galvanization. Key qualifications will focus on vendors' demonstrated steel fabrication capabilities, ability to meet technical specifications outlined in the Draft Description of Requirement, and capacity to manage logistics and shipping to both domestic and overseas locations. The deadline for submitting responses to this RFI is January 2, 2026, with the notice having been posted on December 10, 2025.
This RFI has been issued with no set-aside designation. The procurement involves fabrication of one 5-foot by 60-foot steel section destined for Vicksburg, Mississippi, and up to four 60-foot by 80-foot kits of MPS-OHC to be packaged in 20-foot ISO containers and delivered to Guam. The detailed requirements encompass 18 distinct components including T-bars, beam segments, connecting assemblies, bracing, struts, columns, stair kits, and lifting frames, with specific manufacturing requirements and weights detailed in the attached Draft Description of Requirement. No specific budget or award value has been disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, as the RFI is solely for information gathering purposes prior to formal solicitation. The NAICS classification is 332312 (Fabricated Structural Metal Manufacturing), and the PSC classification is 5450 (Miscellaneous Prefabricated Structures), indicating the specialized nature of the manufacturing work required.
