About this opportunity

The United States Marine Corps seeks specialized moving services to transport one World War II-era M4A3 Sherman tank and sixteen pallets/boxes of supporting materials from the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona to the National Museum of the Marine Corps Museum Support Facility in Dumfries, Virginia. This Request for Information, designated M00264-25-RFI-031, requires contractors to be fine arts shipping specialists with demonstrated experience handling museum artifacts and the capability to provide climate-controlled transportation using company-owned vehicles. The specialized transport requires a 120-ton crane for loading and unloading operations, along with careful packing protocols to prevent damage to the historical artifacts. Potential contractors must provide a certificate of insurance for $10,000 and submit responses including feedback on service capabilities, potential barriers to competition, and rough order of magnitude pricing. The RFI response deadline is 11:00 AM EST on June 30, 2025, with the government intending to award a Firm-Fixed Price contract.

This procurement opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the solicitation documents. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed, the government is requesting rough order of magnitude pricing from potential vendors as part of the market research process. The Sherman tank measures 247x105x116 inches and weighs approximately 45,000 pounds, representing the primary challenge for specialized transportation equipment and handling procedures. Performance must be completed within 30 days of contract award and no later than August 1, 2025, establishing a compressed timeline for executing this complex museum-grade relocation. The sixteen accompanying pallets and boxes contain support materials that require the same level of specialized handling and climate-controlled transport as the primary artifact.
