About this opportunity
The United States Coast Guard, under the Department of Homeland Security, is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) regarding direct lease opportunities with an option to purchase for new construction housing in Juneau, Alaska. This RFI is not a formal solicitation and does not constitute a binding commitment by the Government; rather, it is being used to gather market information and assess contractor capabilities under Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 15.201(d) & (e). The Coast Guard intends to utilize leasing authority provided by 10 USC 2835 to secure housing for eligible personnel and family members stationed in the Juneau area, with lease implementation expected to commence upon occupancy clearance. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) website for any future competitive solicitation release, as the Government will announce formal solicitations to the best of its ability. The deadline for submitting responses to this RFI is January 30, 2026, and potential respondents should begin preparing their responses and gathering relevant information regarding their capabilities to develop and lease housing units.
This opportunity carries no set-aside designation and does not identify any current incumbents or contractors. The Coast Guard is seeking delivery of sixty-one (61) housing units comprised of twenty-seven (27) three-bedroom units, twenty-one (21) four-bedroom units, and ten percent (10%) of mixed bedroom configurations to meet the specific housing requirements for military personnel and their families. The RFI document does not provide explicit budget information, award values, or a specific timeline for construction and lease commencement beyond the requirement that the lease be executed prior to construction start. Organizations interested in pursuing this opportunity should be prepared to demonstrate experience in multifamily housing construction and direct lease arrangements and should actively monitor federal contracting channels for the eventual release of a formal solicitation with complete project specifications and evaluation criteria.
