About this opportunity
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) on behalf of the U.S. Navy's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Mobile Diving and Salvage Units (MDSU) Program Office (PMS 300) to assess the availability of qualified small businesses interested in submitting proposals for the procurement of up to 25 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Multi-Use Expeditionary Response Craft (EOD MERC) boats. The EOD MERC boats will be used by Navy EOD forces for underwater operations, harbor clearance, and expeditionary salvage. Key requirements include a 30-foot rigid inflatable boat design with twin 300-hp diesel outboard engines, a 12,000-lb full load displacement, and the ability to operate in sea state 2 with reduced operations in sea state 3. Interested parties are requested to provide information on their relevant experience, vessel design and capabilities, pricing, production capacity, and facility locations by August 16, 2024.
This procurement is not set aside for any specific business size or socioeconomic category. The Navy plans to award a contract in Fiscal Year 2025 to one or more qualified builders for the initial 15 boats, with an option for 10 additional boats. The Navy has not identified any incumbent contractors for this requirement. The total value of the contract has not been specified, but the quantity of up to 25 boats indicates a significant procurement effort.
