About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) to compile a multi-vendor listing of combat boots that meet both Air Force Dress and Appearance requirements (AFI36-2903) and Berry Amendment (10 U.S.C. 2533a) criteria. The RFI seeks to create a comprehensive listing of manufacturer/vendor self-certified combat boots that will be uploaded to an Air Force website and potentially shared with Army and Navy footwear contacts. Manufacturers are required to submit their boot listings using a provided Excel template, detailing manufacturer contact information, boot types, styles, size ranges, and width ranges. Additionally, respondents must provide a signed company letterhead memo self-certifying that their boots meet the specified requirements. The RFI is not a solicitation for competitive quotations, but rather an informational gathering effort to develop a resource for Air Force personnel.
There is no specific set-aside designation for this RFI, and no incumbent contractors are mentioned in the documentation. The RFI does not specify a specific award value or budget range, nor does it outline a precise quantity of boots to be procured. The combat boots must meet specific technical requirements, including being 8-10 inches in height, with soling material not exceeding 2 inches, and featuring plain rounded or rounded capped toes. Manufacturers can include optional features such as zippers or elastic inserts, and safety toe options are permissible. The response deadline is May 22, 2025, with the goal of creating a comprehensive listing that supports the Berry Amendment's requirement to prioritize domestically produced, manufactured, or home-grown products. Failure to fully comply with submission requirements may result in a manufacturer being excluded from the final listing.
