About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is seeking contractors to repair B1-Position Indicator units (NSN: 6610-01-287-7028, P/N: 40-661-3) for the B-1 bomber aircraft. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, facilities, and equipment necessary to accomplish repair, testing, preservation, packaging, and return of the units to the government. Additionally, the contractor must manage supply chain operations, logistics, parts forecasting, long-lead procurement, reparable forecasting, and obsolescence issues. Potential sources must complete a rigorous qualification process including submission of a Source Approval Request (SAR) package and compliance with Repair/Remanufacture Qualification Requirements (RQR) that demonstrate technical proficiency and quality assurance capabilities. The government has established a July 18, 2025 deadline for responses to this market research effort, with submissions required through DoD SAFE electronic system.

This opportunity does not include any set-aside designation and is open to all qualified contractors, though the government specifically welcomes responses from various small business categories including Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Women-Owned, 8(a) Certified, HUBZone, and Small Disadvantaged Businesses. The estimated repair requirements range from a basic quantity of 8 units to an optional 9 units (8EA to OPT 9 8EA). No current incumbents or contractors are identified in the documentation, and no specific contract values or budget ranges are disclosed. The government emphasizes this is a market research initiative with no guarantee of contract award and no current funding available, requiring interested sources to independently acquire necessary technical documentation as the government will not provide technical data. The 30-calendar day processing timeframe applies to technical order requests, while the broader market research responses are due by July 17, 2025.
