The Office of Acquisition and Agreements Management (OAAM) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), on behalf of the Material Measurement Laboratory (MML) and Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML), intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Kratos Analytical, Inc., under the authority of 41 US 3304 (a)(1), for repair and maintenance services for a Kratos for repair and maintenance services for a Kratos Axis Ultra DLD X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (S/N C332511/01). The service contract shall be for a base period of one year with two one-year option periods.
MML and PML provide industry support in several areas including research publications related to biopharmaceutical products, semiconductor processes, and polymer products including adhesives and dental products. Kratos has no authorized resellers, distributors, or resellers of service and parts. Therefore, only Kratos can supply the required service, maintenance, and parts that will be fully compatible with the equipment and meet the original manufacturer's specifications. In addition, the instrument's software updates, service and use manuals, and schematics are proprietary to Kratos and are not available to the general public.
