About this opportunity

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), under the Department of Health and Human Services, issued a Notice of Intent on June 24, 2026, to award a sole-source 12-month service contract to Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) for maintenance and repair of flow cytometry equipment, with a response deadline of July 6, 2026. The procurement is restricted to BD under FAR 6.302-1 (Only One Responsible Source) because BD, as the original equipment manufacturer, does not certify third-party service providers in the United States, making it the only responsible source capable of meeting NIAID's requirements.

Services include two annual preventive maintenance inspections with PM kits, unlimited Monday–Friday on-site technician visits (excluding holidays), 48-hour priority emergency response, unlimited telephone support, all OEM parts and labor for remedial repairs, and software revisions released during the performance period. Contract performance runs from July 21, 2026, through July 20, 2027, on a firm-fixed-price basis. This acquisition is classified under NAICS 811210 with a size standard of $34 million; BD is other than small business. No set-asides apply. Primary contact is Linda Smith (linda.smith2@nih.gov).
