About this opportunity
Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is announcing a sole-source contract award to Craneworks Inc. for weight handling equipment maintenance and inspection services at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD), with a capabilities statement deadline of 2:00 PM on July 24, 2026 (note: this date has passed as of the posting date). The procurement is set aside for Total Small Business.
Craneworks Inc. is the only known vendor within a two-hour radius of NSWCCD that holds the full suite of mandatory NAVFAC P-307 certifications required to operate, inspect, and certify Navy cranes. NAVFAC P-307 compliance is a strict regulatory requirement—not a best-practice guideline—mandated to prevent catastrophic failure, property damage, and loss of life in Navy weight handling operations. The two-hour call-out radius requirement is critical for urgent repairs during active crane operations.
The contract will be Firm Fixed Price and will cover annual inspections, weight and load testing, monthly inspections, preventative and basic maintenance, service requests, and repairs supporting the Operations Department, Infrastructure Division weight handling program.
Although this notice is not a request for competitive proposals, the Government will consider all capabilities statements received by the deadline. The Government retains sole discretion to determine whether to compete the procurement based on responses received. Information submitted will normally be evaluated only to inform whether a competitive procurement should be conducted.
Interested parties should direct inquiries to James McGarvey (james.m.mcgarvey.civ@us.navy.mil) or Heather Valiga (heather.l.valiga.civ@us.navy.mil).
