About this opportunity
The Federal Aviation Administration Southwestern Region is issuing a Request for Information (RFI 697DCK-26-RFI-RDPP) to identify qualified U.S. State, Local, Tribal, or Territorial government entities interested in accessing airspace data feeds containing Sensitive Unclassified Information and Controlled Unclassified Information from the National Airspace System, with responses due July 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM Eastern Time.
This is a market survey, not a procurement contract. The FAA will not pay for response costs or make any commitment based on submissions. Eligible applicants must be SLTT government entities comprised of legal U.S. residents and must demonstrate plans to use NAS radar data for Air Traffic Management or Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management services, or to test technologies that enhance these services.
Respondents must meet ten specific eligibility criteria: provide detailed use cases and Concepts of Operations; demonstrate lawful government purpose and benefit to NAS safety; agree to protect SUI and CUI data; achieve technical maturity aligned with NIST SP 800-171 standards; comply with applicable federal regulations including 32 CFR Part 2002, 49 CFR Parts 15 and 1520, and FAA Order 1600.75; engage a Third-Party Assessment Organization to conduct security risk assessments; restrict data processing and storage to U.S. locations accessible only to vetted legal U.S. residents; enter into legally binding Other Transaction Agreements and Interconnection Security Agreements; and subject personnel to criminal history records checks.
The FAA anticipates limiting the pilot program to no more than three participants, with the program sunsetting October 1, 2028. Selected participants will receive radar data feeds on a best-effort availability basis with no service level agreement. The FAA will coordinate with the Department of War and other relevant federal agencies to evaluate applicants. Submit responses to Kristin Frantz (Kristin.T.Frantz@faa.gov) and James Nguyen (James.T.Nguyen@faa.gov) with subject line "697DCK-26-RFI-RDPP-RFI Response."
